Nuns at Tsoknyi Gechak Ling received an early Christmas present when Mingyur Rinpoche toured the monastery and Tsoknyi Gechak School in December.

Rinpoche – younger brother of our own Tsoknyi Rinpoche – was accompanied by his mother Mayum la, and sister in law Chime la. The whole community lined the roadside to welcome Rinpoche and offer khatags (ceremonial scarves).

Rinpoche sat on the throne in the Lhakhang (shrine-room) and offered a mandala. He briefly sat with the nuns and staff before taking lunch in the top floor apartment in the shedra building.

After lunch Rinpoche gave a short teaching. He then toured Tsoknyi Gechak Ling, visiting the shedra, new dining hall and three-year retreat centre. At Tsoknyi Gechak School Rinpoche visited every classroom and met many of the pupils.

“We were all so delighted with Rinpoche’s visit and hope we will have the fortune to welcome him again in the near future,” said Fionnuala Shenpen, director of the school.
